The first speaker is Nabil Mustafa, an expert in combinatorial geometry (he recently published a book at AMS: Sampling in Combinatorial and Geometric Set Systems). Nabil will be staying in the lab for a few days, from Tuesday September 10 to Friday September 13 (the keynote was previously scheduled for September 5, but we've translated Nabils visit from one week). He'll be talking about a very interesting topic: the technique of mutiplicative weight updates, which is used, for example, in the expert problem in learning or in Clarkson's algorithm for linear programming (there are many fields where this technique is used). .... Nabil is currently writing a book on this subject. As he is an excellent “teacher”, his visit is a good opportunity to learn about this field.
