Log-S-unit lattice to solve Ideal-SVP in practice

Andrea LESAVOUREY, post-doc - Inria Bordeaux

One of the most promising primitives for quantum-resistant cryptographic schemes rely on Euclidean lattices. For efficiency reasons, most schemes use lattices which
enjoy an additional algebraic structure. Their security can be linked to problem of recovering short elements in ideals of a number field (Ideal-SVP) or in modules over
the ring of integers of a number field (Module-SVP). Thus, Ideal-SVP has received sustained attention in the past few years.

In this talk, I will first give some background on Euclidean lattices, lattice-based cryptography and the different algebraic attacks on Ideal-SVP.
Then I will talk about the work we did with Olivier Bernard, Thuong Huy Nguyen and Adeline Roux-Langlois on the possibility to solve Ideal-SVP over cyclotomic
fields of large dimensions (published at AsiaCrypt 2022).
